Grade-Level Races
Grades 1–3: 8 x 50-meter relay.
Grades 4–6: 4 x 100-meter relay.
Order of Events
Races will begin with 1st grade and proceed sequentially through 6th grade. For each grade level, girls will race first, followed by boys. ________ ___ ___ _____ __ ____ _____.

Jack Netherton, School Principal / Director de Escuela
The Netherton Rotary Relays started in the late 1960s and were originally known as the Madison Relays.
Jack Netherton was the principal at James Madison Elementary School during this time and started the relays for his students; therefore, the original name – Madison Relays. Mr. Netherton began inviting other elementary schools to the Madison Relays, and it soon became a community event offered district-wide to honor the fastest runners in each grade level at all elementary schools.
In the early 1990s, Mr. Netherton retired from his career in education and Madera Rotary began to help sponsor the event. At that time, the name of the event changed to Netherton Rotary Relays to honor the name of long-time educator and originator of the event, Jack Netherton; and, to recognize the strong partnership established with Madera Rotary.
Although the event name changed in the 1990s, one thing has stayed the same – We are Madera UNIFIED, We are FAMILY, We are UNITED, and We are STRONG! As a community, WE BELIEVE in our students, who they are, and what they desire to become.
Historia de los Relevos: Las Relés Rotativos de Netherton comenzaron a finales de la década de 1960 y originalmente eran conocidos como Relés de Madison.
Jack Netherton era el director de la escuela primaria James Madison durante este tiempo el inició los relevos para sus alumnos; el nombre original fue, Madison Relays. El Sr. Netherton comenzó a invitar a otras escuelas primarias a los Madison Relays y pronto se convirtió en un evento de todo el distrito que honra a los corredores más rápidos en cada nivel de grado en todas las escuelas primarias.
A principios de la década de 1990, el Sr. Netherton se retiró de su carrera en educación y el Club Rotario de Madera comenzó a ayudar a patrocinar el evento. En ese momento, el nombre del evento cambió a Netherton Rotary Relays para honrar el nombre del educador y creador del evento desde hace mucho tiempo, Jack Netherton; y reconocer la sólida asociación establecida con el Club Rotario de Madera.
Aunque el nombre del evento cambió en la década de 1990, una cosa ha permenecido igual: ¡Somos Madera UNIFICADOS, somos FAMILIA, estamos UNIDOS y somos FUERTES! Como comunidad, CREEMOS en nuestros estudiantes, quiénes son y qué desean ser.
