Everything you need to know about our school's PBIS framework
The following students earned Hoot Hoot Mail last week, entering them into the drawing for Owl of the Week. Great work kids!
The mission of Madawaska Elementary School is to create a safe and nurturing environment where all members of the school community are empowered to thrive academically, emotionally, behaviorally, and socially, enabling each individual to reach their full potential as confident, empathetic, and resilient individuals.
Goals for implementing PBIS:
Positive School Climate: To cultivate a school culture where all students, staff, and parents feel valued, respected, and engaged in the school community.
Improved Behavior: To reduce disruptive and challenging behaviors by teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors. Office referrals will be reduced by 50% compared to one year ago at this time using the SWIS behavior system.
Increased Attendance: By fostering a supportive environment, using data to make informed decisions and implementing interventions that support needs, we will improve attendance rates by 15% reduction in chronic absences and increase overall positive school experience for all students and staff as measured by the Self-assessment survey.
Academic Achievement: To enhance academic achievement by creating a conducive learning environment where positive behaviors are accepted, disruptions are minimized, and student’s academic needs are met. This includes a focus on proficiency-based education and flexible grouping for core subject areas.
Social-Emotional Growth: To support the social-emotional growth of students by teaching essential life skills, promoting empathy, and encouraging cooperation.
