Alexis Dahl
Science Communicator and Writer
Alexis Dahl is a science communicator who specializes in turning complex research into engaging videos for the public — and who believes most things are interesting if you ask the right questions.
Alexis holds a B.S. in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience from the University of Michigan, but she spent her time as a student writing for Michigan Aerospace, the Prostate Cancer Genetics Project, and the Smithsonian Science Education Center, covering everything from biology to rocket launches.
Since 2016, Alexis has written, edited, or supervised the scripts for more than 600 science videos for major YouTube channels such as SciShow and Crash Course, which have collectively been viewed more than 175 million times. (She’ll admit: She stopped counting after that.)
In 2021, Alexis left her role as the Managing Editor at SciShow and officially launched an eponymous YouTube series that explores science- and history-related stories in her home state of Michigan. The series has since amassed nearly 8 million views, and has featured researchers at the U.S. Geological Survey, Michigan Technological University, and local historical organizations. A lifelong photographer, artist, and video producer, Alexis is also responsible for virtually all of the filming, animations, and graphics featured in the series.
Outside of work, you can find Alexis much as you find her on camera: poking at interesting rocks and plants, diving into fascinating stories, and exploring the Upper Peninsula with her husband and a good cup of local coffee.
