Description: This session will provide a clear, trauma-informed overview of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and how early exposure to stress and adversity impacts brain development, emotional regulation, relationships, and long-term health. Attendees will learn how ACEs commonly present across the lifespan in clinical, school, and community settings. The presentation will explore the connection between ACEs, attachment, and survival responses, using accessible neuroscience to deepen understanding. Practical strategies will be shared for recognizing ACE-related patterns while avoiding pathologizing clients. Participants will leave with tools to support healing, resilience, and protective factors through a strengths-based, developmentally informed lens.

Through acted-out scenes and audience participation, participants will see and experience the small shifts in a therapist that can lead to larger ethical problems. Rather than focusing only on rules, the workshop highlights the moment-to-moment decisions that move boundaries over time. Attendees will leave not only entertained, but with a more embodied sense of when something in the room needs their attention before it becomes an issue.
