Our challenge was to represent a Picasso-inspired painting using blocks of wood. Each block was painted, with some in one colour and some with a dot pattern. I thought this pattern would help the foreground to pop. I chose colours that worked well together. I painted a facial feature on each block, using impasto to create texture. I was successful in applying the abstraction and fragmentation of the human face that characterises the cubist movement.
