Maconaquah Schools Virtual Instruction
In preparation for inclement weather, Maconaquah Schools may need to consider the need for a Virtual Instruction Learning day. The Indiana Department of Education guidance provides that schools may deploy virtual learning days for reasons including but not limited to professional development, inclement weather, and illness. (Note: The use of the virtual learning days does not require approval from the Indiana Department of Education, per the Indiana General Assembly effective July 1, 2022, HEA 1039, now formally PL 139.)
Virtual Instruction Learning is defined as instruction provided in an interactive learning environment created through technology in which students are separated from teaching by time or space, or both (IC 20-43-1.34).
The virtual instruction or remote learning is of the same quality and rigor as the instruction that the student would have received if the student was attending in-person instruction. The curriculum and any other educational resources used in virtual instruction or remote learning are aligned with Indiana's Academic Standards, as required by IC 20-30-2-2.5.
Students, parents, and staff will be notified by the Maconaquah School Messenger system, school websites, media outlets, and social media when the decision is made to utilize a Virtual Instruction Learning Day. When the Virtual Instruction Learning Day is put into place due to inclement weather, the safety of students, parents, and staff is of paramount importance. For this reason, staff will provide the Virtual Instruction remotely unless otherwise instructed.
Note: If students cannot or are not able to attend the live synchronous instruction at the designated times, parents should contact the school attendance line by 10:00 a.m. on the day of Virtual Instruction.
