We talk about problems as fitting into one of two categories: Kid-sized problems and adult-sized problems. Kid-sized problems are those that a child can solve all by themselves without adult intervention. Adult-sized problems are ones that are big enough that a child needs to ask for help from an adult. See if your child can make a list of kid-sized problems and a list of adult-sized problems.

We learned about our brains earlier this school year, but we used slightly different terminology. We referred to our "downstairs brain" as our "guard dog." It's main job is to keep us safe. We referred to our "upstairs brain" as our "wise owl." It helps us to solve problems and think logically.
