Below are some FAQs that come to mind. Are there any more we should add? The Recording Access portal itself has a help section for account, payment and portal questions.
Q: Can I submit a document that requires Tax Certification?
A: Yes! Documents that require Tax Certification will be electronically routed to the Macomb County Treasurer's office, electronically certified and then returned to the Register of Deeds to complete recording.
Q: Can I submit any type of real estate document?
A: No. The Macomb County Register of Deeds currently does not accept the following document types via e-recording:
Subdivision Plats or Condominium Master Deeds
UCC filings
Sheriff Deed documents
Q: Can I submit multiple documents at once?
A: Yes! After you've uploaded your first document image and entered all the recording information, please use the "Save & add next" button to add an additional document to your Package. See the tutorial for more guidance.
Q: What is a Package?
A: All the documents you submit in one transaction when you check-out is referred to as a Package in Recording Access. A package can consist of one document or multiple documents and will be assigned a unique Tracking Number.
Q: Can I use the “Secondary Image” to attach additional documents?
A: No. Please only use the “Secondary Image” to attach a Real Estate Transfer Tax Affidavit (RETTVA) to your document. A Package with any other document as a Secondary Image will be rejected.
Q: Can I attach a Real Estate Transfer Tax Affidavit (RETTVA) to my submission?
A: Yes! Please use the Secondary Image option when creating your document for submission to attach a confidential RETTVA. See the tutorial for more guidance.
Q: Is there a subscription fee to use Recording Access?
A: No! You have been invited to use the Macomb County Register of Deeds Recording Access e-recording portal with no subscription fees.
Q: Are there additional fees to use Recording Access?
A: Yes. There is a $3 portal fee per document and payment processing fees per Package. Standard Michigan recording fees and taxes apply. Please see the Fees page for more detail.
Q: What is the “Estimated total” in Recording Access?
A: The Estimated total consists of Michigan recording fees, which are calculated by the document information you enter, and the per document portal fee, which is based on how many documents are in your Package. Payment processing fees won’t be shown until you choose a payment method in check-out.

A: Payment processing fees will be shown when you choose a payment method in check-out and are based on the total amount of your Package. Please see the Fees page for more detail.
