Achievement Challenge:
To improve achievement in writing, through developing effective pedagogical approaches to ensure all ākonga have barrier-free access.
Rationale:
To increase the effectiveness of teaching and learning across the Kāhui Ako specifically the skill of writing so that ākonga have reduced barriers to success and pathways for achievement.
Writing is a fundamental skill for all ākonga within our kura. It comprises in the understanding of the multifaceted process that is the crafting of writing. Included in this broad skill of 'writing' is a range of aspects including oral language, reading proficiency, and fine motor skills.
The Te Ara Bucklands Beach Kāhui Ako Writing team aim to work across the kura to assist with the individual facets of writing teaching and learning for ākonga, as well as creating pedagogical resources for teachers to implement in the classroom.
Events and guest speakers / authors will be made available to kura and the communities in order to better the levels of understanding around the writing process for all those involved.
