"Hunters" is an adaptation of a Hmong story cloth, a storytelling method created in the 1970s by Hmong refugees. As such, the original story is highly interpretive -- primarily being told through visual art without much written prose. This adaptation, therefore, features almost entirely new dialogue and characters alongside a reworked plot. The only character named in the original cloth is the protagonist, Yer; with all other characters in this adaptation possessing names invented by their actors. It should also be noted that the story cloth on which this play is based has no official title -- the name "Hunters" was chosen for its thematic relevance.
