I have always been deeply fascinated by the way that the human brain functions, specifically in relation to mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. I have also always been interested in dreams, both my own and in others. Additionally, social justice and the advocacy of equity and combatting race/gender related disparities in the realm of public health lie at the core of my passions. My MARC project is an intersection of all of these interests, hoping to aid in the alleviation of mental health disorders that may be caused by or exacerbated by a lack of sleep, specifically in women of color (who seem to be disproportionately affected by sleep loss).
Outside of science and MARC, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and exploring nature. I love running and playing soccer, both in school and outside of it. I have a younger sister(15) and a dog named Rumi (5).
