November-December Offerings
November-December Offerings
Tuesdays in November and December
A rotating series of MA leaders
For this series, we’ll gather after school on Tuesdays and walk over to an important conservation area less than a mile from MA. We’ll borrow weeding tools to remove invasive scotch and french broom, to support the biodiversity of this plant community and mitigate fire danger from an otherwise-high fuel load. You’ll get to know this place well, the more occasions of the series you attend, watching it shift with the seasons and change with the contribution of our work. We’ll be back to MA in time for the late bus. Snacks will be provided! You don’t need to commit to the whole series to join this experience– sign up if you’re interested in joining us even one time, and we’ll check in each week to see who can be there. This series has the potential to continue all year!

Enjoy a night at the theater with a Steven Sondheim show!
About the play: “Epic in scale – daring, abstract and grounded in the pursuit of love and art, this Sondheim classic is an unconventional love story that imagines the interior life of French painter Georges Seurat." This musical won a Pulitzer Prize and was nominated for an astounding ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical, when it came out. Shotgun Players is a local powerhouse for high-quality and thought-provoking theater. This performance is sure to be excellent!
About our plan: we’ll meet at MA at 5, head to Berkeley for some tasty pre-show dinner, and enjoy the show, including a short talk-back with the audience afterwards. We’ll be back to MA around 10.

Come join the anime club to go see the “Art of Manga” exhibit at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. The day will end with lunch in Japantown. What is Manga? Manga can be described as a Japanese comic. You read manga from right to left, and the art is super detailed and expressive. There are manga about everything, and they are fun because the stories are easy to get into. This day also happens to be Cosplay day at the museum, which means you are free to dress up and bring your favorite character to life. So, anybody interested in this topic should definitely sign up for this outing to have a fun time. We will leave MA at 9:00 am and return by 5:00 pm.

Slide Ranch is an essential coastal California institution, combining the sweetness of organic gardening and farm animals with ocean views and community vibes. We’ll head to the coast on Friday after school, set up our tents, and make dinner in the cozy dome kitchen– so even if the weather is wet, we’ll have a warm spot to hang out, play games, and enjoy the evening. We’ll get up on Saturday, make some breakfast, and put in a day of work and play helping out in the gardens and with animal chores.
