2022 Fall
Over the summer and this fall I am learning Python so I can assume a bigger role in my project. With the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope the astronomy community has taken a larger place in the public spotlight. I'm excited to keep working with Steve this fall as we figure out our future plans for the rest of the year.
2022 Fall
Steve and I are working in a Jupyter Notebook (see screenshot below). We have taken data from GAIA's latest release and will be using it for our analysis. We have to be somewhat selective in picking our data; we want stars with accurate parallax measurements, in order to analyze if they are in fact eclipsing binaries. We have to choose "goldilocks" areas of the sky, where there aren't too many stars interfering with each other but still have enough stars for analysis. We are now in the process of analyzing stars with similar proper motion.
