I have been fascinated by computer science and programming for a long time, especially lower-level systems. I also really love electrical engineering and building things from scratch.
My area of scientific interest is computer science, specifically deep learning artificial intelligence. For my first year of the MARC program I focused a lot more on image recognition and image segmentation, but I want to bring together different areas as I progress in my project next year. I'm also considering bringing in electronic components as well.
I have a lot of experience with computer programming. However, my only credential in deep learning is that I finished the FastAI practical deep learning course. I also have a lot of experience programming for older computers; I have a complete Commodore 64 setup, not pictured.
My goal for the MARC program is just to learn as much as I can about deep learning because it interests me.
I want to continue computer science in college and ultimately major in it. I will probably also end up continuing with deep learning and machine learning in general throughout college.
