The moment I read the MARC description on the MA website as an 8th grader, I knew that I would want to apply to the program if admitted to the school. I was immediately attracted to the opportunity of conducting independent research in my own area of interest. I am passionate about pursuing research in astronomy and astrophysics, and MARC connected me to my mentor, Steve Bryson - a scientist at NASA, who I'm currently working with on exoplanet detection methodology.
Outside of the MARC program, I am a two-sport athlete competing in both Marin Academy's varsity soccer and track teams. Sports have taught me how to be a team player on and off the field. I lead multiple groups on campus including Women in Literature, FOLKS affinity group, and the Black Student Union.

Ever since I was a little kid, I've always been curious about outer space and what goes on in the sky. Beginning in 7th grade, my passion for astronomy and astrophysics grew as I spent all of my free time during lunch periods and in-between classes reading science magazines and articles. I hope to contribute to and publish a research paper with my mentor.
