Hi! My name is Eloise Sent and I'm a Senior at Marin Academy in San Rafael, CA. Through the Marin Academy Research Collaborative, I have been given the unique opportunity to pursue research within any field of STEM. After exploring various topics within molecular biology, I've become most passionate about translational breast cancer research because of its direct impact on women's health.
From a young age, I have always been drawn to biology given my curiosity for the natural world around me. Starting in middle school, I became interested in biology and throughout high school, I have pursued this interest. The summer after my sophomore year, I was selected to participate in UChicago’s Research in the Biological Sciences Program where I spent eight hours in the lab each day for four weeks, exploring different molecular, microbiological, and cell biological techniques. My research culminated in a poster presentation and written manuscript titled "perm-1 RNA Interference in Caenorhabditis elegans to Allow for Wnt Signaling Activation and Inhibition." It's been an honor to continue my research journey through the Marin Academy Research Collaborative!
Relevant Classes: Biology, Chemistry, Advanced Biology Honors, Advanced Physics with Calculus Honors, Geometry Honors, Algebra II Honors, Precalculus Honors, Advanced Calculus Honors, and the Marin Academy Research Collaborative Elective: Exploring Experimental Design
During the Fall, I play #1 singles & captain my school's Girls Varsity Tennis Team and during the Winter & Spring, I play club tennis across Marin. At school, I'm the part of the Community Action Leadership Council, the Conference on Democracy Leadership Committee, the Model United Nations Leadership Team, and the Dialogue Across Differences Program. Outside of school, I enjoy volunteering with local nonprofit organizations driving transformative change in our communities including Children for Change, the Border Youth Tennis Exchange, and SHE-CAN. In my free time, I love trying different foods, traveling the world with my family, and exploring nature with friends!
