Background
Hi my name is Elodie and I am a Senior at Marin Academy in San Rafael. I have always been passionate about science and love that I have the opportunity with the MARC program to pursue my scientific interests and dive deeper into a topic of my choosing. I have enjoyed getting the privilege to expand my knowledge of multiple different topics in the field of neuroscience and I am excited to pursue a research project regarding attitudes towards psychedelic therapies
Credentials/Experience
Alongside the MARC program, I am taking Calculus Honors, Physics Honors, and Neuroscience Honors. Outside of school I have played on the varsity soccer team since my freshman year and play club soccer year round. I have been interning at TeachAids for the last 2 years which is an award-winning social venture out of Stanford University that creates breakthrough technology to solve persistent problems in health education around the world. I spent the summers of 2020, 2021 and year-round throughout the ’20-21 and '21-22 school year interning for TeachAids. I worked on the CrashCourse concussion education offering, the Brain Fly-Through launch team and the CrashCourse Concussion Story Wall teams. I am a continuing intern on the CoviDB web resource.
Motivation
I took neuroscience this year because I have always been fascinated by the plasticity of the brain and the ways that it can be influenced. Through learning about the different impacts drugs have on the brain I became interested in their potential neurological benefits, leading me to create a research project around the effectiveness of psilocybin as a treatment for depression.
