About COD

Marin Academy’s Mission Statement asks every individual to “think, question, and create in an environment of encouragement and compassion, and challenges each person to accept the responsibilities posed by education in a democratic society.” Conference on Democracy was established by Marin Academy to reinforce the connections between a relevant education and the broader world. The conference provides a platform for a wide array of perspectives on and connections between political, social, economic, and environmental issues that face democratic societies. Marin Academy invites its students, faculty, staff, and the broader community to engage collectively using empathy, intellect, and initiative. By breaking through the boundaries of polarization, Conference on Democracy challenges individuals to listen, learn, and initiate change in an environment of collaboration.

Each year, the Conference is comprised of interactive sessions, discussions, an array of keynote speakers, and many more options. These opportunities are centered around a unique theme. Explore this year's theme or the history of COD.
