Personal Information: I have been married to Matt Gehm, an English and History teacher at Mendota High School, since 1990. We have 2 sons. Our older son, Jon, and daughter-in-law, Whitni, live in Aurora. Jon teaches and coaches at Rochelle High School, and Whitni practices law. We also have an adorable little grandson named Luca. Our younger son, Payt, and daughter-in-law, Taylor, live in McHenry, IL, where they both teach music. Payt teaches in Wonder Lake, and Taylor teaches in Vernon Hills. They are expecting our second grandchild in February! In addition, we have a very spoiled dog, Lester, and our independent cat, Gus.
I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1988. I later received my Master's Degree from Rockford University in 2004. Before teaching at Northbrook, I taught 4th and 6th grades at Streator Woodland. Then, when my sons were born, I did daycare and tutored until my younger son started kindergarten. At that point, I returned to teaching in 2002 at Northbrook and have been happily teaching 5th grade ever since! :)

Tests/Assessments count for 60% of the final grade for each trimester.
Homework/Classwork/Exit Tickets count for 40% of the final grade for each trimester.
***Students may make corrections on tests/assessments for 1/2 credit back IF they have all work in for that chapter/unit before we take the test.
*** There will be no corrections on homework/classwork/exit tickets. Students should always try their best by using their resources and doing careful work.
