MISSION and VALUES

VISION, PURPOSE, WHY, and MISSION

VISION: The Lyndon Institute football program will be known as the very best high school program in the state of Vermont for providing an atmosphere for young men to reach their highest potential.

PURPOSE: The relentless pursuit of excellence in high school football.

WHY: Football is the premiere vehicle for teaching young people lessons in life, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Through our program they will learn that success is a process, not a destination.

MISSION: Our coaching staff and our players will work together every year to build and develop a meaningful mission statement that reflects our values of TOUGHNESS, DISCIPLINE, and SELFLESSNESS.

CORE VALUES

At Lyndon Institute, we will hang our hat on certain things… like running the football and playing great defense. More importantly, however, we must have some basic guiding principles, foundations, cornerstones, an identity as a program. These are our CORE VALUES…

TOUGHNESS – DISCIPLINE – SELFLESSNESS

The three things that we will build on will be TOUGHNESS, DISCIPLINE, and SELFLESSNESS. It is not enough, however, to simply put these things on a piece of paper and talk about them every once in a while. EVERYONE in our program must understand our Core Values, be able to define them, and tell a stranger what those values look like in practice, games, at school, and in our community. Living our values will be a four step process…

1. Define the Core Values

2. Identify what they look like

3. Public declaration that you will live them

4. Live em!
