Having grown up just down the road in Appomattox, Dr. Sally Selden’s return to the University of Lynchburg is a homecoming in the most literal sense.
Joining her is her husband Frank Selden, PhD, a dedicated psychologist who will be continuing his impactful work through his practice here in the Lynchburg community.
As parents to three adult sons—Jacob, Nate, and Owen—the Seldens understand the importance of family, and we are honored to officially welcome theirs into our own. We look forward to seeing them both around campus and in the community as they begin this exciting new chapter with us.

Last fall, I walked the Coastal Portugal route of the Camino de Santiago with a dear friend. One of my favorite moments was sharing a photo with friends in front of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela at the end of the journey.
Dr. Selden and her husband are the proud parents of three adult sons, all of whom share a commitment to excellence in their respective fields:
Jacob serves as a collegiate baseball coach at Liberty University.
Owen is continuing his education as a master’s candidate at Oxford University.
Nate is currently pursuing graduate studies at Oregon State University.
The newest member of the Selden family is Belle, a Barbet (French water dog), who has added great joy and energy to their family.
