Volcano experiment

As part of our DNL topic on ‘Volcanoes and Earthquakes’, the CM1 children have enjoyed recreating their own volcanic explosions! We also investigated whether the temperature of the vinegar affected the speed of the explosion! Children made predictions before carrying out the experiment and then wrote up their investigation using a scientific format and layout.

As well as learning about the science behind the ‘eruption’, it provided a nice opportunity for children to practice working as part of a team and it also sparked their curiosity about other variables they could test in the future.
