PREMIERE & PAL - PORTFOLIOS FOR UK UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE APPLICATIONS
Many creative courses such as Art & Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Product Design etc., require a portfolio. Check with the institution what is required. It is possible to produce a portfolio without attending a preparation course and your Art teacher will be able to advise you on the best course of action. Should you decide that you do want to do a portfolio preparation course, there are many and whilst we do not recommend any in particular, these institutions may be useful to your research.
University of the Arts London (UAL) offers a number of courses, including 'orientation' courses for each study level, full-time portfolio preparation courses for various subjects (lasting one term to a full year), and short courses (lasting a few days to a few weeks).

IELTS – English Language Proficiency Test
ELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It is a test taken by most Lycée students who do not have GCSE English at Grade B or above and where a university does not accept the LVA or LVA OIB English of the French Baccalauréat and who are considering studying at a British university.
It tests the four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking. IELTS is available in two test formats: Academic or General Training. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking modules but different Reading and Writing modules. For the purposes of applying to a British University, the Academic test is required.
Listening, Reading and Writing must be completed in one day. Depending on your test centre, the Speaking test may be offered on the same day or up to a week before or after the other parts. IELTS is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, and is delivered through a number of test centres. This is the official site IELTS Organisation
Click on this link to find the nearest IELTS centre and check the test dates to find two options that suit you. There are 48 fixed test dates per year. Note the deadline for registering for each test date and the cost. Preparation for the IELTS can be done at number of places, and whilst we do not recommend any in particular, you may find the following selection useful in your research:
University of Westminster, School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages - IELTS Preparation
City of Westminster College - IELTS Preparation
Wimbledon School of English, Wimbledon: IELTS Preparation
MBA Center London125-133 Old Brompton Rd, London SW7 3RP: IELTS
Most universities ask for a score of between 6 and 7.5 in writing and speaking.
NB: Prior to registering for the test or a preparation course. You should have a discussion with your English teacher to discuss your readiness for the test and the level of preparation required.
