Suffrage Panels-FINAL-072220_Part3.pdf

The fight for women’s suffrage was long and complicated. Multiple organizations whose leaders fought for and against the right of women to vote were founded.

Issues surrounding the idea of "equal citizens" were complex, encompassing racism within the movement, internal divisions within the suffrage movement on tactics and means by which to obtain suffrage (state-by-state or constitutional amendment,) and the anti-suffrage faction (those who felt women were not equal and did not need the vote.) As a result, by the end of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, success was limited.

This module focuses on the organizations involved with suffrage and evaluates their methods and leadership.
