Teachers and/or campus administrators may coach A+ UIL Academics Teams.
Coaches are invited to enjoy the hospitality lounge throughout the competition day offering a light breakfast with coffee and juices, snacks, and lunch!
Unfortunately, paraprofessionals and parents are not able to coach or judge but are encouraged to support our teams!
We need enthusiastic and encouraging teachers to judge events at the competition.
Teachers can volunteer for a morning event, afternoon event, or BOTH!
Bonus: A light breakfast with coffee or juice, snacks, and lunch will be available to judges!
Event rules and judging criteria will be provided prior to the competition.
Judges receive a $25/per hour stipend (up to 7 hours).
Unfortunately, coaches, paraprofessionals, and parents may not be judges.
It is recommended that teams meet at least once per week.
Team practices may be scheduled before, during, or after school.
Coaches should work with their campus administrators to determine the best days/times for UIL team practice.
Coaches should make every effort to create a fun and engaging time of team practice to encourage active participation.
Some coaches in the past have created Google Classrooms with all of the practice materials for students to access at home.
Students should not be disqualified from the competition because they are unable to attend before or after school activities.
Castleberry ISD creates the event schedule.
The schedule will be posted on this site and shared with team coaches once it is available.
Bus transportation may be provided at the discretion of campus administrators.
Teams are encouraged to "dress to impress" to show our Bullfrog Pride!
Teams may wear school spirit shirts or school colors.
Schools/teams may design a special competition T-shirt.
Teams may choose to arrive at the beginning of the event day for check-in or may arrive at least 30-minutes in advance of their scheduled competition.
Teams choosing to stay for the entire day are encouraged to bring snacks, water bottles, and a packed lunch.
Team coaches should plan to bring any required event materials, practice materials, and event rules to refresh students before their event.
Teams are encouraged to bring board games, books, drawing paper & art supplies, playing cards, dominoes, Legos, etc. for downtime during the event day.
Active engagement with other teams is encouraged.
Teams should refrain from bringing electronic devices.
In order to create a warm, safe, and inviting competition atmosphere, only student competitors are allowed in the competition testing rooms.
Coaches and families are welcome to join teams in the holding area between competition events.
Families are invited to attend the Awards Ceremony.
Medals are awarded in each event category up to 6th place.
Not all students will receive a medal.
A district certificate of participation will be provided to coaches at the competition and may be distributed during or after the Awards Ceremony.
Campuses are encouraged to recognize all UIL A+ Academics competitors for their dedication, perseverance, courage, and hard work!
Reach out to your campus UIL A+ Coordinator or the district UIL A+ Coordinator for further information.
