About Ms. Nickerson

I am excited and grateful to be the new school counselor at Effie Morris Early Learning Academy. Previously I taught special education and AVID in both elementary and middle school. I received my bachelors degree from the University of North Texas in Interdisciplinary Studies. I graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Masters in School Counseling. I also earned a Masters in Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum from Texas Woman's University.  

As the counselor, I provide various services to support students and their families. I provide individual and group counseling to students, conduct classroom guidance lessons, and serve on multiple committees. Additionally, I connect families with needed resources such as clothing and food assistance, outside counseling services, and community resources. I am always available to help serve our families. I create a warm, welcoming, inclusive environment where every student feels unique and valued. During counseling sessions, your child will have fun while improving their social and emotional skills.
