The Jazz Ensemble is an audition only class that meets before school during 0 period.  It is taught by Mr. Militello, one of the outstanding music teachers at Agoura High School.  

All students should already fluent on their instrument and able to comfortably read sheet music at a grade 2 level.  No beginners are allowed. Jazz audition requirements for 26/27 can be found here

Students will learn how to play in a big band, learn about the history of jazz, listen to famous jazz standards and famous jazz musicians, improvise over chord changes, transcribe solos, and play several styles of charts including swing, latin, funk, and rock. 

The Jazz Ensemble has spots for the following instruments:

-Tenor Sax

-Baritone Sax

-Drumset

-Guitar

-Bass

-Piano

-Vibraphone
