FAQ's
Where is the Round Meadow Counseling Office?
Located across the hall from the main office.
How does my child access counseling?
Students in grades 2 through 5 can see me by filling out a Let's Talk slip located in their classrooms. Teachers then submit the slips to me and I call the student to my office when I am next available.
Students in TK, Kindergarten and 1st grade are too young to access counseling themselves. These students must talk to their teachers first, and if necessary, the teacher will alert me to check in with the student (typically, the teacher can help solve their problem without involving me). Most students in TK, K and 1st grade access the counseling program through classroom lessons and class/playground support and/or parent and teacher referrals.
How does the counselor handle the issue of confidentiality?
Confidentiality and your family's privacy are of utmost importance to me. What you or your student discuss with the counselor is private except in cases required by law or you give permission to share.
Will I be notified when my child visits the school counselor?
As the school counselor serving more than 500 students, I am neither obligated nor able to notify parents every time their child visits or interacts with me. However, when a concern arises or if a student is frequently seeking out counseling services, I will contact parents.
If you would like an update on your child's counseling and/or wellbeing at school, please don't hesitate to reach out through email: mdundore@lvusd.org. I am more than happy to connect with you!
