Ms. Lisa's Class 2023-2024 Class Website
Welcome to Buttercup Preschool and to the 2023-2024 school year.
My name is Lisa Henggeler and I am thrilled to be your child's preschool teacher. This is my 15th year teaching at Buttercup and I feel blessed to have a job that I love and that I am able to work with such a professional and dedicated staff.
As in previous years, our curriculum this year is Creative Curriculum.
Our daily routine using the Creative curriculum includes circle time, which includes a story, song, and movement activity, followed by 3 10-minute centers. On T, Th @ 12:45. we will have an OT center where we will work on finger strengthening, and holding markers correctly. scissor skills, etc. On MWF at 12:45. we will be working on social skills. Both circle and center time focus on specific areas of development such as fine motor, communication, pre-literacy, math, science, gross motor, music, and social skills. Children learn through play as they actively explore their environment and participate in hands-on developmentally appropriate activities. These activities are carefully planned so that we can facilitate your child’s development through play. Although it may look like children are “just playing” they are learning crucial skills and concepts.

What to bring on the first day of school
Please send in one extra set of clothing (pants, shirt, socks, underwear) in a large zip-lock baggie to be used in case of an accident. Please label all items in the bag and write their name on the outside of the bag.
If your child is in diapers, please send in diapers and wipes. Unfortunately, we are unable to store the big packages of diapers so please put several diapers in a gallon-size baggie and label it with your child’s name. We will let you know when we are running low. Their bags will be stored in the rolling carts in the bathroom along with their wipes.
Snack/Lunch/Water
Please send their snack in a separate container from their lunch along with a refillable water bottle with your child’s name on it.
Also, make sure your child is able to open their snack/lunchbox/food containers (no glass) independently.
A zippered lunch box usually works the best.
Backpack - A zippered 16-inch backpack works the best. This size allows us to put their lunchbox, artwork, etc. in one container which is easier for them to carry when we are walking in/out from Hug and Go. If you’ve already purchased a smaller backpack no problem, we can put anything extra in a separate bag.
