Citizenship marks will be given at every 10 week reporting period, which is the end of every quarter. My policy is that every student begins the year with an “S” (Satisfactory) and has the opportunity to earn an “O” (Outstanding) or drop to an “N” (Needs Improvement) or “U”. (Unsatisfactory). If a student drops to a “N” or “U”, the behavior may be reported to parents/guardians by a few different ways: a call home, an email home, a note written by teacher in organizer, a white slip written, a Progress Report given on AERIES, or explicitly told to the student. Outstanding behavior is a student who is prepared when class begins, has all needed supplies, actively and appropriately participates in class, completes all assigned work, teachers and students can count on them, no tardies, attends class regularly, etc.
Always follow lab safety rules.
Be respectful of group members and lab equipment.
Read and follow directions.
Participate in the lab and be a team player.
Labs are usually not assigned as homework. You will need to complete labs in the time allotted. If you are absent, please see Mrs. Herrera when you return to class.
If behavior is not appropriate, the student will be suspended for the lab period, earn a zero on the assignment and other consequences may occur at the teacher's discretion.
In the event of an absence, students should check in with Mrs. Herrera and another reliable student to see what was covered during class. Students are responsible for making up all classwork, labs, and any homework that may have been assigned. Most of the science instruction takes place during the 50 minute class period, so please encourage good attendance throughout the year. Late work will only be accepted during the five week grading period. Points will be deducted for any late assignments at the teacher’s discretion.
Publisher: TCI: Bring Science Alive! We have a class set of textbooks, but reading and assignments at home will all be online. The three textbooks: Planet Earth, Space, and Weather and Climate are all found through your child’s LVUSD email account. It can be accessed through the google app, then click on the TechTCI app, and select the program.
