Catalina Nov. 2024 Update
We thank all of the students, parents, faculty, and staff for helping make this trip happen!
Itinerary: Day 1
Depart ACS at 6:45
Arrive at Long Beach Harbor by the Queen Mary at 8:10 AM
Depart Long Beach for Catalina at 9:30 AM
Arrive at Toyon Bay at 11:30
Unload the boat and eat lunch upon arrival
12:30 - Move into Dorms
1:30 - First Activity - Learning how to and then SNORKELING!
4:30 - Free time! Some campers played football, basketball, volleyball, and Dodgeball, while others played soccer or human foosball or went to the beach to hang out
6:00 - Dinner
6:30 - Store time - some campers decided to buy some souvenirs
7:00 - Night Program - Tonight, we had an awesome hike up to learn about astronomy and how the stars are connected to our oceans.
9:00 - Bed and Lights Out
Day 2
7-8 AM - campers got ready for the day and had some free time before getting ready for breakfast
8-8:45 - Breakfast
9:00 - 12:00 - Morning activities. Groups 1-4 started off with labs that included Oceanography, Invertebrates, Plankton, and LONG DIVISION! While Groups 5-7 were doing rock climbing and team bonding activities.
12:00-1:00 - Free time
1:00 - 1:30 - Lunch
1:30 - 4:30 - Afternoon activities- Snorkeling! Since this was day 2 of snorkeling, campers could play more games and even jump off of the float by the pier!
4:30 - 6:00 - Free Time
6:00 - Dinner
7:15 - Evening Program. Tonight was a SQUID DISSECTION! It was awesome! Students paired up and were able to see the different parts of a squid and understand how it moves, inks, and eats.
9:00 - Bed and Lights out!
Day 3
6:30 - Wake up and start packing and cleaning the dorms
8:00 - Breakfast
8:45 - Finish cleaning the dorms and move out!
