Words Their Way

Words Their Way is a developmental spelling, phonics, and vocabulary program. The program uses a hands-on approach to word study to teach students to look closely at words to discover the spelling patterns, syllable structures and spelling-meaning connections of English orthography that are needed for reading and writing. Students learn to examine, manipulate, and categorize words while focusing their attention on the critical features of the words-their sound, spelling, and meaning. This is a powerful, high engaging, and fun word study.

Heggerty Phonemic Awareness

Michael Heggerty Phonemic Awareness curriculum is used to teach students the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken words. This is a precursor to reading print, as students need to become more aware of how the sounds in words work.

Reading A to Z

Reading A to Z, or RAZ-Kids, is also used in the Reading Lab. Thanks to the PFA we are able to have access to this web-based reading program at home via a tablet or computer. Click on my link to gain access. Username:jcasarez4.
