General

What do I need to check out materials from the Media Center/Library?

      • You need your current Student ID (a picture of your ID works too!) to borrow or check out any materials.

Can I come to the Media Center/Library during class?

      • You must have a pass from your teacher or coach to come into the Media Center during class. You must also sign in on the computer located next to the front window.

How do I check out a book?

      • You must have a current AHS ID card to check out book. The Media Clerk/Coordinator can help you find a book you are looking for. The Media Center also has ebooks available to download to your computer or smart phone. Please see the Media Clerk/Coordinator for assistance.

I forgot my calculator at home, can I borrow one?

      • You may borrow a calculator using your current ID card. Keep in mind calculator check outs are for one day/24 hour period only.

I lost my library book, what should I do?

      • Come into the Media Center to speak with Mrs Smart.

Can I view my library and textbook account?

      • Yes, you can log into your own account by accessing your check outs on http://follett.lvusd.org. Click the upper right hand corner Login and enter your username and password credentials given to you by the district. (Username: Five letters of your first name, five letters of your last name, the last two digits of your ID card number and the last two digits of your birth year. Password: your entire ID card number)

      • Use the MyInfo tab to look up your checkouts.

How long can I borrow items?

      • Library books can be checked out for three weeks with up to three renewals. Calculators can be checked out for one day.

I have a past due item, what should I do?

      • Come into the Media Center and we will help you. Your account must be current and no obligations owed to renew or check out new material.

How do I take care of a fine?

      • Come into the Media Center and we will help you. Your account must be current and no obligations owed to renew or check out new material.

How do I pay for a lost or damaged book online?

      • Click on this link. For "Item Type", select Library/Textbook Fine.

Can I print my documents from the Library Media Center?

      • Yes. The Media Center has several printers.

Can I eat in the Library Media Center?

      • Food will not be permitted in the Media Center while masking indoors is required.

Core Literature Novels

How long can I keep my class novel/core literature novel?

      • All core literature novels have a ninety day checkout period.

We are still using the novel in class and now I am getting overdue emails, what do I do?

      • Come to the Media Center and speak with Mrs. Smart. If the class is still using the novel, the book can be renewed. If the class is finished, please return as soon as possible. The Media Center does not charge for overdue core lit novels. You will be responsible for lost or damaged books. The price listed in the email is the replacement cost of the item if it is lost or damaged.

How many core lit novels can I have out at a time?

      • Teachers usually only assign one book at a time (with some exceptions). If your class is finished with a book, you need to return that book to get the next book. Please bring your previous book to the Media Center to return when checking out the new book.

Textbooks

My friend came over to study and we may have switched books, how do I find out which one is mine?

      • Log on to your library account http://follett.lvusd.org (see above instructions) to find the barcode of your textbook. Look on the back cover of the textbook to see if the barcode number matches the one on your account.

      • At the end of the school year, you are responsible for the textbook you checked out a the beginning of the year.

Can I leave my textbook in the classroom so I don't have to take it home?

      • It is not recommended. Textbooks are often lost, taken by another student, or forgotten in a classroom. Since you are responsible the exact textbook checked out, you are risking losing the item and incurring a lost textbook fine if you leave it in a classroom.

I lost/damaged my textbook. What should I do?

      • You must pay for damages or the cost of lost textbook before a new one can be checked out. You can pay online or by check (made payable to AHS). If you pay online, please bring the credit card receipt/proof of payment to the Media Center so the charge can be removed from your account. For older textbooks, you may purchase the book online provided it is in like new or gently used condition and matches the ISBN number of our textbook. However, you MUST see the Library Media Center staff prior to ordering to verify you are ordering the correct book.

      • To pay ONLINE for a lost or damage textbook click on this link. For "Item Type", select Library/Textbook Fine. Please be sure to bring your receipt to the Media Center to show that payment was made online.

I purchased a replacement textbook. Do I owe the Library Media Center anything?

      • Yes, we charge a 5$ processing fee for the replacement book. This covers the cost of the materials to reprint the label for the book (ink and address labels).

I’m getting emails saying my textbook is overdue. Am I going to be charged a late fee when I return it?

      • No, we do not charge late fees for overdue textbooks. The only time we will charge a fine for a textbook is if it has been lost or damaged.

Laptops

Do I actually need a computer at school with me every day?

      • Yes, your computer is like a textbook. You should have it in class with you every day in case your teachers wants you to use it.

What do I need to get a loaner computer?

      • You need your student ID in order to check out a loaner computer.

My computer doesn’t work, how can I get it fixed?

      • AHS has a tech genius bar in the Media Center during lunch and support. Bring your Acer to the genius bar and the tech squad will repair it. If it cannot be fixed by the tech squad, the Media Center will issue you a replacement.

I forgot my laptop at home. Can I borrow a loaner?

      • Students are expected to bring a laptop to school daily. If a student forgets his or her laptop, Media Center will provide a loaner once per a semester. The loaner computer must be returned at the end of the day.

I have my computer, but it’s not charged. Do you offer loaner chargers?

      • As long as you have your Student ID, you may borrow a charger for the period or day.

I’m getting emails saying my computer is overdue, am I going to be charged a late fee when I return it?

      • No. Students may keep their laptop over the summer break.
