All work will be graded based on the rubric. Insist on a rubric if it's not posted. Refer to rubric often throughout the assignment.
Your assignments will be graded on a four-point scale using Standards Based Grading (SBG) that is based on students' level of mastery on a given objective or standard. SBG allows teachers and students to identify their proficiency level through several assignments or activities. Students are ALWAYS encouraged to demonstrate a higher level of proficiency for a better grade. The breakdown of SBG in our Science class is shown below
Classwork consists of the following:
Complete all classwork at home as homework if class time was insufficient. Please refer to Google Classroom or Schoolloop to learn about missed work due to absences. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETING ALL CLASSWORK. If you need extra help, I'd be more than happy to offer help during lunch/before or after school. Please speak with me about scheduling an appointment.
There are not many opportunities for extra credits. When they are offered, please do take advantage of them.
Students breaking school or class rules more than five times will be given a choice between in-class or at-home detention. Please refer to school planner for school rules. A detention slip will be given to notify parents about at-home detention if student chooses at-home detention. Parents are responsible for following up on the detention plan at home, instructions will be clear on the slip and it will require students to work on your choice of chores for the given number of minutes.
An office referral may be given to students to students if lunch or at-home detention is unsuitable.
