Committees and Chairs
Each commitee is for the school year, you will be provided a budget for your event by the treasurer. Please save all reciepts for reimbursement. Each Committee has a guide, it outlines previous notes as a gentle guideline to help you make this event your own.
Welcome Back Picnic, September (3-4 members)
Kick off the school year by welcoming new and returning families to the Luxmanor community! This casual outdoor gathering is a great way for students, parents, and staff to reconnect, meet new friends, and start the year with school spirit and community fun.
Silent Auction, October (4-5 members)
The Silent Auction helps raise important funds for PTA programming while bringing families together for a fun and engaging community event. Volunteers assist with soliciting donations, organizing items, event setup, and coordinating bidding activities.
Book Fairs, Fall & Spring (4-7 members)
Fall and/or Spring BOGO
Our Scholastic Book Fairs help inspire a love of reading while raising funds to support our school community. Volunteers help with setup, student shopping times, classroom wish lists, and family shopping events throughout the week.
Student Based Fundraiser, Anytime (4-7 members)
This student-centered fundraiser encourages participation, school spirit, and community support while helping raise important funds for PTA programs and activities throughout the year. We typically hold this once a year and it happens in March, but can be adjusted based on the fundraiser & theme!
Science Fair, November (3-5 members)
The Science Fair gives students an opportunity to explore, experiment, and showcase their creativity through hands-on scientific discovery. Families and volunteers help support event organization, judging coordination, and student participation.
Bingo Night, December (3-5 members)
A favorite family event filled with laughter, prizes, and community fun! Bingo Night brings students, families, and staff together for an easygoing evening that encourages connection and school spirit.
Red & White Dance, February (3-5 members)
One of Luxmanor’s most beloved traditions, the Red & White Dance is a high-energy winter event filled with music, dancing, and school spirit. Responsibilities include coordinating setup, arranging a DJ through Washington Talent, organizing volunteers, and partnering with 5th grade families on a bake sale fundraiser that helps offset event costs.
Geography Bowl, March (4-7 members)
The Geography Bowl celebrates students’ knowledge of world geography, cultures, and global awareness in a fun and engaging academic competition format.
MCCPTA Reflections Program, April (2-4 members)
This incredible MCCPTA-sponsored arts program encourages students to express themselves creatively through visual art, music, dance, literature, photography, and film. Volunteers collaborate with art and music teachers, help collect student submissions and forms, and upload entries to the MCCPTA system. Support is available through our cluster schools, Garrett Park and Farmland. Once submissions close, an awards ceremony is coordinated to celebrate participating students and their achievements.
Teacher Appreciation Week, May (4-6 members)
Teacher Appreciation Week is a special opportunity to celebrate and thank the incredible Luxmanor staff for all they do throughout the year. Volunteers help organize meals, treats, decorations, small surprises, and other thoughtful gestures to make staff feel appreciated and supported.
Donuts with Grown-Ups, May (2-3 members)
This fun community-building event encourages families to walk to school together while promoting healthy habits, school spirit, and connection among students, caregivers, and staff. Donuts and refreshments help make the morning extra special.
5th Grade Promotion, June (4-7 members, 5th Grade Parents)
This committee helps celebrate and honor our graduating 5th graders as they prepare for middle school. Volunteers support promotion activities, student celebrations, decorations, keepsakes, and end-of-year events that create lasting memories for students and families.
Decor & Delights, October & February (3-6 members)
This creative committee helps bring celebration, and school spirit to classroom for our Halloween and Valentine's Day celebrations. You'll bulk order decor for all classrooms and package it up for teachers/room parents to decorate for class parties.
The Lunch Bunch, August, November, December & June (5-7 members)
The Lunch Bunch Committee helps show appreciation for Luxmanor staff throughout the year by coordinating special meals, treats, and hospitality events during key moments of the school calendar.
Holiday Showcase, Year Round (3-5 members)
The Holiday Showcase celebrates cultural & seasonal traditions through performances and community participation. These clustered events help bring families together in a festive and meaningful ways.
Mixers & Meet-Ups, Quarterly in the Year (1-2 members)
Plan casual gatherings help strengthen connections among Luxmanor caregivers through relaxed social opportunities designed to build community throughout the school year.
The Owl Watch, Year Round (1-2 members)
The Owl Watch serves as a community-based group focused on student safety, school concerns, and family communication. Committee members help identify and share ongoing safety-related issues with PTA leadership and school representatives so concerns can be elevated appropriately and addressed in support of keeping our Luxmanor Owls safe.
