For my evidential artifact to exhibit competency in differentiated instruction in the classroom, I provided a math activity that I created for the students to learn adding place value and how to exchange ten ones for a ten and ten tens for a hundred. I have four IEP students, and providing them with hands-on material provides a way to represent the math problem in a different way.
Based on the math equations for this unit, I have found that by providing manipulatives, I can provide for the different learning needs of every student. The scores from the pre-assessment compared to the post-assessment from the lesson the day before and for this lesson exhibit the advancement in understanding. Therefore, in the future, I will continue to provide students with options for more manipulatives to help them learn in the style they need for their learning style.
