The certificates improve the student’s college application by adding a unique educational experience, as WSU College of Veterinary Medicine is the first and only educational institution to offer a certificate for veterinary scribes!
These certificates do not provide college course credits but an entire certification in the field of veterinary scribing and preventative health.
Junior Preventative Health Certificate
Our Companion Animal Preventative Health certificate reflects the most up to date and important veterinary medical standards and concepts. The course material is reinforced with a series of case and scenario-based quizzes and learning exercises to promote strong, positive communication with clients in the following learning modules:

Our user-friendly asynchronous online learning platform offers students the ability to log in and complete coursework on their own schedule!
What benefits do students receive from the certification?
Reinforcement and additional practice with concepts give students more practice utilizing the information learned in both the certificate program and general coursework.
Complex case-based assessments that teach students in-depth client interaction skills needed as a new team member in the veterinary hospital setting.
The additional information students learn in conjunction with their regular coursework gives them an opportunity to showcase their new skill set on resumes and job applications, as this is a unique educational experience that can enhance their qualifications.
Once completed with the 10 online learning modules and final series of assessments, the students will obtain a certificate of completion in the area of companion animal preventative health from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Junior Veterinary Scribe Certificate
The course consists of 10 asynchronous online learning modules, meaning the students can complete the program at their own pace. Upon completion of the requirements the student will receive a certificate acknowledging their success in completing the Junior Veterinary Scribe certificate.
What Are the Student Benefits of This Certification?
Additional skill sets for obtaining a job while in high school or in a post-graduation veterinary career. Career possibilities include full or part time scribing for remote online companies, in-clinic scribing careers and further education for receptionists, veterinary assistants, technicians and other team members.
