How will the school counselor be involved at school?
School Counselors do a lot of things! You'll see me in the classrooms teaching lessons, at lunch with students, in the library, on the playground, and all around the school!
Here are some things the school counselor also does:
Classroom lessons to help students with academics, behavior, social skills, relationships, as well as college & career readiness!
Group Counseling for students who are working on building similar skills as above but benefit from a smaller group setting where we can focus on specific skills.
Meet individually with students to practice new skills.
Collaborate with teachers, students, families, and the community to find ways to best meet the needs of all of our students.
Organize and train our Conflict Managers (a group of peer mediators) - they help students mediate conflict between peers during recess
The School Counselor is here to help every student in the school!!
