A great communication skill is to use I-Statements when talking to others about how you feel. This is a great example of how to use I-Statements.
At Brookside School we use Kelso's Choices! Students first must determine if they have a small or big problem. If they have a big problem they are encouraged to find an adult and ask for help. If they have a small problem they need to use their problem solving skills. To do this they can pick two of Kelso's Choices and try to solve the problem. If neither work try another until you find one that works! Students can use this strategy at school, at home, at the park, while playing sports, etc.
