Ms. Tia’s Class Expectations
The school's policies will be followed in all areas. This is particularly true with cell phones. They are not allowed. Students will also be accountable for Academic Integrity in all their work.
Key Suggestions for Success in the Classroom
1. Always come prepared and have homework completed.
2. Ask questions.
3. Stay on task.
4. Take notes and keep an organized notebook.
5. Participate regularly during classroom discussions
6. Review and be prepared for tests.
7. STUDY DAILY!!!
Grading Distribution
Your grades will reflect a weighted distribution according to the following categories.
Assessments - 90%
Assignments – 10%
I will be using the school’s grading scale.
A = 90 - 100% B = 80 – 89% C = 70 – 79% D = 60 – 69% F = <60%
I do not grade on a curve; grades may be rounded up at the teacher’s discretion.
Homework/Classwork
Homework should be done and turned in on time. We will check it on the due date and discuss any issues that students are having. NO LATE WORK. Emergencies will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
Participation in class is a MUST!!! It helps build confidence and fosters academic discussions.
All handouts and returned work should be kept in a class notebook. Students are responsible for keeping the work to verify that the work was turned in.
Academic Honesty:
Work should be that of the student and not copied from any other sources. Any such action can result in a referral to the office for further review and possible additional disciplinary action.
Working together is fine but each student must write out their own work and be able to explain their solution.
Cheating includes:
Copying, texting, emailing, or in any way duplicating assignments that are turned in, wholly or in part, as original work.
Sharing or receiving quiz and test questions from others.
Gathering answers from websites for questions on worksheets, in textbooks, or other assignments.
Exchanging assignments with other students, either handwritten or computer generated, whether you believe they will be copied or not.
Using any form of test aid, formula sheets, etc. during tests or quizzes without the express permission of the instructor.
Giving or receiving answers during tests of quizzes.
Taking credit for group work when you have not contributed an equal or appropriate share toward the final result.
Make up Policy
It is the student’s responsibility to make up notes, homework, quizzes, projects and tests. I will work with the student to help and schedule any tests/quizzes. However, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange the make-up time and ask for any handouts. Normal policy will be one extra day for each day missed. If the student fails to make up the work on the assigned date, a score of zero will be recorded.
Supplies
3 Ring Binder w/ notebook paper Or Notebook and 3 prong-folder
Computer/Tablet
Computers/Electronic Devices
Students will NOT be allowed to take class notes on the devices. Students will need to access worksheets, and take quizzes and tests on their devices. Some textbooks will also be in a digital format. Student's devices should have internet capabilities. Students will need to complete a school technology usage form. This should be provided the first day of classes. Students’ that are off-task while using the technology will have the technology taken away for a period of time and parents will be contacted. Examples of off-task behavior include, but are not limited to games, social media, responding to personal emails, chatting with students or others, etc.
Classroom Expectations
