Textbook: Glencoe Algebra 1 (McGraw-Hill Education)
Course Description
Algebra 1 introduces students to the language and structure of algebra. Students develop proficiency in solving equations and inequalities, graphing linear functions, analyzing data, working with exponents and polynomials, solving systems of equations, exploring quadratic functions, and applying algebraic reasoning to real-world situations. The course emphasizes problem solving, mathematical communication, and the use of technology to support learning.
Expected Course Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• Solve linear equations and inequalities with confidence.
• Represent and analyze functions using graphs, tables, and equations.
• Solve systems of linear equations using multiple methods.
• Perform operations with exponents and polynomials.
• Solve and graph quadratic functions.
• Simplify and solve radical expressions and equations.
• Apply algebraic concepts to solve real-world problems.
• Demonstrate readiness for Algebra 2 and higher-level mathematics.
