HOMEWORK
To support learning in Grade 2, students will receive homework from Monday to Thursday. There will be no homework on weekends or during vacations.

🏠 At Home:
Set aside a quiet time and space for homework.
Encourage your child to do their work independently.
It’s okay to help when needed, but let your child take the lead.
In Grade 2, students receive a monthly homework grade for each core subject:
📘 Language
➕ Math
🌍 Social Studies
🔬 Science
Each student starts the month with a 100% in each subject.
Here’s how the grading works:
✅ Completed on time – full credit, no points lost
❌ Not completed – minus 5 points
🕒 Turned in late – receives only 2 points
This system helps encourage responsibility and good homework habits. Please support your child by checking their agenda and Class Dojo daily, and helping them stay on track.

📝 Spelling tests are given every Monday.
On the same day, students will also receive their new spelling words for the following week. This allows us to practice together in class and at home throughout the week.
📲 The list of spelling words will be posted every Monday on Class Dojo.
📚 What the spelling test includes:
12 spelling words
5 sentences using random words from the spelling list
These sentences will include basic sight words
We’ll also practice these in class and write them in our spelling notebooks
Please help your child review the words and sentences during the week to support their success!
In class, students will practice note-taking skills in their notebooks to help them stay organized and build good study habits.
📚 Textbooks and notebooks may be taken home to review and study for tests.
✅ Please help your child keep their books and notebooks clean and neat.
📕 All textbooks must be covered to protect them throughout the school year.

📝 Tests – Students will receive at least one week’s notice before a test.
📋 Quizzes – Students will get at least two days’ notice before a quiz.
🎨 Projects – All projects will be assigned with two weeks’ notice.
