Important Classroom Information
Folders and Notes
Please send an email if there is a change in your child's dismissal plan, or if your child will be late or absent. It is helpful if you remind your child of this change as well.
It is also helpful if you send in a change of clothes for your child to keep at school, in case they ever have an accident.
Absences and Illnesses
When your child is absent, please call the school and leave a message. This is for your child’s safety. When you return to school, please send in a note explaining the reason for the absence.
Please keep your child home when they are sick. When they have been fever free for 24 hours they may come back to school. This helps to prevent illnesses from spreading.
Lunch and Snack
Please make sure your child knows if they know if they are getting lunch from school or bringing lunch from home.
We are a peanut, tree nut free classroom! Each child should bring a snack packed separately from their lunch each day. Please check your child’s snack to make sure it is nut-free. These foods are allowed in the cafeteria, but not in the classroom.
Birthdays
Due to the district-wide Wellness Policy, we cannot celebrate birthdays with cupcakes or snacks. Instead, students will receive birthday crowns and stickers to wear.
Summer birthdays will be celebrated in the spring, usually in the final few weeks of the school year.
Report Cards and Conferences
Report cards will be sent home twice a year. They will be sent home for kindergarten students in January and June.
Parent teacher conferences will take place in November. However, I am available to meet throughout the school year if you ever have any questions or concerns.
Scholastic
Scholastic book flyers will be sent home in student folders periodically. If you would like to order any books, please go to scholastic.com and order online. You will be asked to enter our classroom code, which you will be provided with. I’ve found that entering orders online is the most efficient process.
Snow
On days when there is snow on the ground, please send your child to school with boots, snow pants, a winter jacket, a hat, and mittens. Students who do not have snow pants and boots won’t be able to play in the snow on the playground.
Volunteers
Classroom volunteers are always welcome! Please let me know if this is something you’d be interested in.
