About Mrs. Favreau
I am a resident of Lunenburg and have lived here with my husband and children for 23 years. I have a daughter who is in her last year of graduate school, my son Ethan is heading into his Senior year of college at URI, and my son Patrick is beginning ProEMS Center for Medics in Cambridge, MA. I love animals and have several pets at my house which include, two dogs (Winston and Frankie), and a cat (Teddy). This is my eleventh year at the Lunenburg Primary School. I love what I do each day and I’m so excited for the new year to start.
Teaching has always been my passion, I love instilling a love of learning in my students so they become lifelong learners. I love seeing that spark, that smile, and sense of pride a student feels when he or she accomplished a difficult task or learns a new skill. I am looking forward to working with you to make this a successful and amazing year for your child.
Education / Experience
I have received my MSED with a concentration of "Inclusion in the Classroom" from the University of New England in 2015. In the spring of 2016 I received my RETELL certification that is required by the state of Massachusetts. This course will support any ELL students that I have in my classroom. As an educator I am always trying to gain more knowledge to be a better teacher. Please take your time and browse through the site to see student work, how my classroom looks, and my philosophy of teaching.
Currently I am teaching first grade at the Lunenburg Primary School. Over the years I have proven myself to be highly qualified in the education field. During my many years of teaching I have developed my communication and interpersonal skills. As a teacher my experience includes working in an inclusion classroom with students that need small group instruction, students who have IEPs or 504 plans, and ELL students. In addition, I have also enhanced my organizational and leadership skills. I believe a teacher should have the dedication to motivate students to perform to reach their highest potential.
I have the capability to generate interest in students to want to learn. I always keep changing my teaching style and try to capture students’ attention with high quality instruction. I also try to improve students’ social skills by developing curriculum using Responsive Classroom and Positive Behavioral Interventions Support (PBIS). I can develop and maintain professional relationships with students and their parents as well as school staff.
With my undying passion for teaching, it is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to my students.
Philosophy
I believe that all children need to feel safe and respected. Students need to know that they can make mistakes or that you will him them when they speak.
I believe that all students need a positive learning environment. Students need to fill confident so that they are will to explore and ask questions.
I believe that all students thrive in an environment in which standards for learning and behavior are high. Students need to understand what the expectations are in the classroom. They need to know that they can reach their individual goals that we set for them.
I believe that all children learn, but at different rates and different ways. Not every students learns the same way. Each student is an individual and needs to be taught as one.
I believe that every child should demonstrate respect for themselves, for others, and for their environment. Community is an important to any successful classroom. Rules, Routine, and Respect are an important to my classroom community. Students need to know that we are all a part of that community.
I believe that all students need to recognize and value the importance of learning. Creating life long learners is successful teaching.
