LISD Career and Technical Education

The Cybersecurity program of study focuses on occupational and educational opportunities associated with planning, implementing, upgrading, or monitoring security measures for the protection of computer networks and information. This program of study includes responding to computer security breaches and viruses and administering network security measures.

Students completing this course of study will earn their Cybersecurity Certificate and walk in LSCO's graduation if they choose. All courses are taught in person.

The additional dual credit courses offered through Lumberton ISD are not covered by Lamar State College – Orange. LSCO will be providing an instructor to the LHS campus to offer these courses, therefore a fee will apply.

Course fees:

$45 per credit hour = $135 per course

$14 per credit hour for books and supplies = $42 per course

Total cost for each course = $177 per semester.

Some students may choose to opt out of purchasing books and supplies. Please note that course fees and availability may change each academic year.

COSC 1301 - Introduction to Computer Science (Level 2 - Fall)

Overview of computer systems - hardware, operating systems, the Internet, and application software including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, and databases. Current topics such as the effect of computers on society, and the history and use of computers in business, educational, and other interdisciplinary settings are also studied. This course is not intended to count toward a student's major field of study in business or computer science.

ITDF 1300 - Introduction to Digital Forensics (Level 2 - Spring)

A study of the application of digital forensic technology to collect, analyze, document, and present information while maintaining a documented chain of custody. Overview of ethics, crime, and other legal guidelines/regulations/laws. Includes overview of tools used for forensic analysis of digital devices in investigations.

ITSC 1325 - Personal Computer Hardware (Level 3 - Fall)

This course explores current personal computer hardware including assembly, upgrading, setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.

ITSY 1342 - Information Technology Security (Level 3 - Spring)

Instruction in security for network computer hardware, software, virtualization and data, including physical security; backup procedures; relevant tools; encryption; and protection from viruses. Topics may adapt to changes in industry practices.

ITCC 1314 - Introduction to Networks (Level 4 - Fall)

This course covers networking architecture, structure, security, and functions; introduces the principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations to provide a foundation for the curriculum.

ITNW 1354 - Implementing and Supporting Servers (Level 4 - Spring)

Pre-Requisite: ITCC 1314

Implement, administer, and troubleshoot information systems that incorporate servers in a networked computing environment.

Work-Based Learning and Expanded Learning Opportunities
