CREDENTIALED SCHOOL NURSE SERVICES COORDINATOR
The Credentialed School Nurse Services Coordinator is a master’s degree prepared Registered Nurse licensed by the California Board of Registered Nursing and credentialed as a school nurse by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
The Credentialed School Nurse uses the nursing process, clinical expertise and professional judgment to assess, design, and implement health services that ensure that all students will receive the ideal benefit from their educational experience. The School Nurse works collaboratively with students, families, teachers, members of the multidisciplinary team (counselors, psychologist, social workers, etc.), and utilizes resources within the community, to meet the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students.
HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT - LVN
Under the professional direction of the licensed credentialed School Nurse, the district healthcare assistant performs specialized physical health care services for pupils with disabilities and chronic health conditions. Also, the LVN is available to provide basic first aid to students who present to the health office.
The LVN assists in ensuring the California requirements for immunizations for school entry are met and works closely with the School Nurse to help meet the needs of the Health Program, working within their specific scope of practice.
