Daily Writing Information

ONE MAJOR GRADE/9 weeks

  • Date each entry (ex. 8/30, August 30)Do NOT write the question.

  • Answer in complete sentences. Restate the question as part of your sentence. (ex. “Why did the chicken cross the road?” – ‘The chicken crossed the road because he needed to get to the other side.’ Subjects of answers should not be pronouns- “The chicken crossed the road.” NOT “He crossed the road.”)

  • Answer the question fully; always explain.

  • Include MORE THAN ONE entry per page! (One page/week. Save the planet, & my hands.)

  • You will be graded on effort, not on correctness, but try to be accurate anyway.

  • ONLY Daily Writing should be in your journal – no other work or notes should be present.

WHEN YOU ARE ABSENT – write the date of the day(s) you were gone and write “Absent”. If you do not do this, you will lose credit for not answering the DW question, even though technically, you are not responsible for DW when you are absent.

DAILY WRITING SPIRALS SHOULD BE KEPT IN CLASS BIN. I reserve the right to grade them at any time. Consider this an ongoing project. There is no need to take spirals home.

CHEATING on a major project is a level 2 cheating offense! While you may “phone a friend”, copying will result in a zero on this major grade.
