Ms. Katelyn's Class

Dunbar Primary | 2023-2024

Welcome to Kindergarten!

My name is Katelyn Smith. I currently hold an Associates of Arts in Teaching degree from Angelina College and a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Many years ago, I was a Dunbar Tiger and went on to graduate from Lufkin High School. I have three children and like to spend my spare time making memories with my kids.

I am so excited to be your teacher this school year and I am looking forward to all of the fun and exciting things that we have planned for our class. I can not wait to spend the year growing and learning new things with you. We are going to have a wonderful year together!

If you have questions or need help with anything, you can contact me through Class Dojo, email, or phone.

Starfall Education Foundation is a publicly supported nonprofit organization. They create free and low-cost experiences whereby children can successfully learn through exploration. On the Starfall website, children have fun while learning in an environment of collaboration, wonderment, and play. Starfall teaches through positive reinforcement to ensure children become confident, intrinsically motivated, and successful.

ABCya provides over 400 fun and educational games for grades PreK through 6. Their activities are designed by parents and educators, who understand that children learn better if they are having fun. Games are categorized by grade and subject, and cover topics such as multiplication, parts of speech, typing, pattern recognition, and more. They even have games that are just plain fun (and safe) to play! With so much variety, there is sure to be something for kids at all learning levels and styles.
