Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine

Lufkin ISD established a partnership with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in order to provide free mental and behavioral health services to Lufkin ISD students in Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. This initiative is titled Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine, or TCHATT and the goal is to provide access to mental and behavioral healthcare services for children and their families by connecting students with rapid access to services through telemedicine. Specific information regarding TCHATT services may be found below:


TCHATT may assist students through a wide range of conditions including but not limited to:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Mood Swings

  • Anger

  • Self-harm or suicidal thoughts

  • Peer interactions or family concerns

  • Trauma

  • Substance use

  • Attention / behavioral concerns

  • Grief


TCHATT does NOT provide services in the following areas:

  • Emergency mental health services for life threatening situations

  • Psychological or neuropsychological testing

  • Disability evaluations

  • Child custody evaluations

  • Long-term treatment
