I am currently pregnant with my second daughter. We expect her to arrive in November. My current plan is to work until Thanksgiving Break (November 20-24, 2023). I will return on Monday, March 18th, 2024. However, I am experiencing some complications and undergoing some testing. This can lead to an earlier delivery date. I have talked to the students about what the possibilities are of me leaving early and to not be worried. During my absence, I have secured an AMAZING long-term substitute teacher. Her name is Mrs. Matchett. She is a retired Lufkin ISD teacher and has over 30 years of teaching experience and has taught first-grade. Your child or children will be in wonderful and capable hands. Mrs. Matchett was a long-term substitute for me with my first daughter in 2021, and last year, she served as a sub for another first-grade teacher. She also subbed often in Kindergarten last year meaning she will know a lot of the students in my room already! She is well-versed in Herty Primary, the staff, the students, and policies and procedures for LISD as a whole. I am fortunate that she is devoting her time to my classroom.
